A 44-year-old mother from New Jersey now faces child abuse charges after it was alleged that she took her 5-year-old daughter into a tanning booth, causing the young girl to suffer burns. The 44 year-old New Jersey mom Patricia Crenzel, was reported to the police after school officials noticed the five year-old child with a severe sunburn.
According to the report, the little girl told her friends that she went tanning with her mother, and teacher may have overheard and reported it to the police. Crenzel claims in her own defense that the little girl didn’t go in the tanning bed, she was only in the room with her, and the sunburn is a result of the child playing outside on a warm day.
“It’s like taking your daughter to go food shopping,” she told NBC 4 New York at her Nutley, N.J. home after being released on $25,000 bail. “There’s tons of moms that bring their children in.”
Patricia said it’s nothing more than a big misunderstanding, she reveals that she’s been visiting her local salon for more than 10 years, and doesn’t know why her visits there with her daughter have suddenly been called into question.
New Jersey laws states that children under 14 are not allowed to tan at indoor salons, and teenagers between the ages of 14 and 17 who chooses, may do so with written parental consent.
Watching the video made me realize that this woman has tanned her self almost golden brown, I almost mistook her for a big ole’ baked turkey.
