New York born Rapper Ja Rule has found himself on the wrong side of the law and now faces up to five years in prison for weapon procession and tax evasion charges. On tuesday the rapper plead guilty in a New Jersey Federal Court on two counts of tax evasion which each attracting a maximum one year sentence. Ja Rule born Jeffrey Atkins agreed to pay $1.1 million in back taxes and penalities, he is currently free on $500,000 bail and will have to be back in court on June 13 for sentencing. However a week before that he is scheduled to start serving a three year sentence for a weapons possession conviction from a 2007 arrest.
The tax evasion charges stemmed from the fact that Ja Rule failed to file tax returns from 2004 to 2008, even though the rapper has not had an album of new material since 2004, he got revenue from royalty and touring. All we can say is that we wish you the best of luck Ja Rule and we hope that the Judge will be lenient on June 13 when you return to court for sentencing.
