Dina Manfredini 115, World’s Oldest Person Dies

Dina ManfrediniThe person that held the title of World’s Oldest Person has passed, Dina Manfredini was a resident of Iowa who passed on December 17, 2012; she was 115 years old. A native to Italy, Ms. Manfredini was born on April 4, 1897 and moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 1920 with her husband Riccardo Manfredini.

She is the mother of four children, and after her husband passed she lived alone for 42 years until moving into a nursing home in 2007 at age 110. During her ‘younger’ years she worked in an ammunition factory in World War II and cleaned houses until she was 90, even though she lied about her age so that the people she worked for didn’t think she was too old to work.

Dina Manfredini’s passing was confirmed by her granddaughter, but would not elaborate on the cause of death. It is now believed that Jiroemon Kimura of Japan, born April 19, 1897, now hold the title once held by Dina Manfredini.
