Tyler Perry was recently hit with a $225,000 Lawsuit which was filed by an American author claiming that the filmmaker stole his idea and made it into the movie, “Good Deeds.”
According to American author, Terri Donald who also writes under the moniker ‘TLO Red’ness’, says that Tyler Perry based his film on her 2007 book with the title, “Bad Apples Can Be Good Fruit.”
According to the documents filed in Philadelphia, Donald sent a copy of her book to Perry’s company before production on the movie began. Terri Donald is seeking $225,000 in damages plus, an injunction requiring the company to add a credit for her book in the opening and closing credits.
There were also documents filed which is asking the company to provide an accounting of the movie’s revenues. Representatives for Perry and Lions Gate Entertainment, which released the film and is also named as a defendant in the lawsuit, have not released a comment.
