Batmobile auctionedThe original Batmobile no longer belongs to ‘Bruce Wayne‘ as it was recently copped by a car collector for the whopping price of $4.6 million. Rick Champagne, a car collector won the original Batmobile at an auction at the Barrett-Jackson auction house in Scottsdale, Arizona this week.

The vintage vehicle was used in the Batman television series that ran on ABC between the years of 1966-1968. The car is the first of six models, and was built in 1966 by legendary Hollywood car customizer George Barris. The car was built in only 15 days with a $15,000 budget, adding to a 1955 Ford Futura concept model that he purchased for $1.

Barris was the owner of the vehicle until it was bought by Champagne at the auction earlier last week. The Batmobile is tied with the Aston Martin DB5 that Sean Connery drove in Goldfinger for the highest price paid for a movie car at an auction.
