Joe Paterno
Former Penn State Football Coach Joe Paterno died on January 22, 2012 at the age of 85. Paterno who have won more Division I NCAA football games than any other coach, died on Sunday morning, his family announced. He was recently criticized for not going to law enforcement officials in regards to the child sex-abuse scandal involving Jerry Sandusky, who was an assistant on Paterno’s Penn State staff until 1999.

It is been reported that he died from a battle with lung cancer, but me along with just about everyone that was a fan of Joe, agrees that he died from heartbreak by the way he was dropped by Penn State after 46 years in charge of Penn State’s program and earning a space in the College Football Hall of Fame, 409 victories, a pair of national titles and a statue in front of his team’s home field.

“It is with great sadness that we announce that Joe Paterno passed away earlier today. His loss leaves a void in our lives that will never be filled. He died as he lived. He fought hard until the end, stayed positive, thought only of others and constantly reminded everyone of how blessed his life had been. His ambitions were far reaching, but he never believed he had to leave this Happy Valley to achieve them. He was a man devoted to his family, his university, his players and his community,” his family said in a statement.
